Tyrese Knuckles, 25, was shot by an officer and is currently in stable condition at Crozer-Chester Medical Center, according to New Castle police.
The incident began around 2:30 a.m. when officers were called about a domestic dispute at Cynwyd Club Apartment Complex in Wilmington, authorities said.
Knuckles fled on foot and was caught near Limestone Road and Milltown Road, where "a struggle ensued," according to New Castle police. An officer shot Knuckles before the 25-year-old fled again in a stolen police car, according to the department.
"Mr. Knuckles collided with several pursuing police vehicles" during the chase that followed, officials said. He led officers into Pennsylvania before crashing on I-95 in Delaware County and fleeing again on foot, police said.
Knuckles was quickly arrested and taken to the hospital with a gunshot wound and other injuries from the crash, they added.
A New Castle police officer was also hospitalized in stable condition with injuries from one of the crashes, authorities said.
Knuckles was previously wanted by Philadelphia police for stalking, according to officials.
The New Castle officer who shot him has been placed on administrative leave per department policy, NCCP said.
